Volunteering The New Form Of Tourism

July 19th, 2010

Ever thought about volunteering overseas? Perhaps volunteering in Tanzania ? Popular activities now include volunteering in Mombasa . Why not spend time on your gap year embarking on an African adventure? Why not combine your volunteer project in Africa helping the people who really need it with an adventure holiday. You have the opportunity to go on safari to see the big 5 of Africa, climb Africa’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro and visit the spice island of Zanzibar. This is one of the best opportunities you may ever experience so take it while you can.

It is easy to combine these two aspects of your tip and we strongly recommend it. You deserve a reward after volunteering your hard work to the local communities that need it. We are not saying that your volunteer placement is necessarily hard physical work all the time but in a lot of cases it is emotionally tiring. Even though Africa is one of the poorest continents in the world it is considered one of the best places to work as a volunteer because there are many projects within the local communities. The African continent is also one of the largest in the world so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that there is a vast array of  adventures activities to take part in.

Although Africa is rich in culture and has a wide range of diversity on the continent, sadly there are many areas most notably on the outskirts of major cities such as Cairo, Nairobi and Cape Town are home to people so poor they cannot afford food, health care and school. These areas are rife with diseases such as HIV and AIDS which is where these areas are home to so many orphaned children. A few weeks spent in these places, helping with volunteering teaching or as a volunteer medical assistant, really can change people’s lives.

There are however two sides to Africa the poor and then the super rich who are usually found in many cases within a 10 mile range of the slums in these major cities. Life is hard for some in Africa so why not come and get inspired by the local people and see the efforts they are making to get themselves out of poverty. You can help change the lives of many and make a difference in the world.

Voluntary Services Required In Africa

July 7th, 2010

Work Abroad today, and not only change your life but change others forever. Volunteer projects abroad are a great way to experience something different in life. Whether you volunteer in Kenya or volunteer in the deserts of Namibia. Which ever activity you choose to participate in your help will not go unnoticed and you will be helping change so many peoples lives along the way.

As time goes on many more countries seem to be a lot more stable to travel too. Whether this is political stability or the area has recovered from a natural disaster it is positive news for both tourists and volunteers alike. The new openings of countries also conjures excitement for the true travellers amongst us. Volunteers now have a great passage to work with remote communities in rural areas. There will always be a need for them to be stationed in the major cities around the world helping with the poverty and disease there.

The impact volunteers make on a local community is often life changing. For a start the interaction element that takes place between the two cultures immediately sparks off learning and the exchange of knowledge between them. Not only do the local communities learn a lot about the western world but volunteers also learn a lot about the developing world. This experience cannot be taught to them at school it is simply something you pick up on your travels.

The feelings you receive when helping such diverse and poor communities as a volunteer a that of a boost in self-esteem a great feeling of motivation and you nearly always feel inspired by the people that you meet. There are desperate countries and people all over the world who are in true need of your help and support today and well into the future. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Travel By The Railroad Train to The San Diego Area For A Great Vacation

May 8th, 2010

Maybe this is the time for you to look into an Amtrak vacation, especially if you have never done that sort of thing before. The national train network makes it possible to get around from most major cities. Given how beautiful and interesting our country is, the trip itself can be a big part of the total enjoyment.

One of the most popular vacation destinations is San Diego. The train runs right into the middle of town, with easy local public transportation to get you to your hotel and most of the attractions. Compared to other parts of Southern California, San Diego is actually relatively close together. In fact, a lot of the attractions can be enjoyed by walking.

San Diego is really loaded with interesting places to visit. Visiting all of the beaches, museums, historical attractions and other amusements could truly take weeks. So it is safe to assume that you can engage yourself in a week of both relaxation and activity in this harbor city. One of the major features that San Diego offers its guests and residents alike is its wonderful, moderate weather, especially in the summertime.

Perhaps you would like to make an even more ambitious train travel event, in which case you can take the train up the coast. It is easy to take the train from San Diego all the way to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, with maybe ten stops in between. By doing any of the above, it would be reasonable to engage in a one- or two-week vacation without using a car.

Don’t forget that a trip by train can add several days on to the total schedule compared to flying, but if you have the right mindset the traveling can be part of the overall enjoyment of the trip.
