Pure Opinion – What Is Al Gore’s Carbon Footprint?

September 6th, 2010
Comments Off

If the Earth is our mother then Al Gore must be our daddy. He is the self-appointed prophet of climate doom. Since losing to George W Bush in 2000 he has been given wealth, power, and prestige like none before him. Hollywood gave him an Oscar, their highest award. The world bestowed upon him the Nobel Peace Prize. He has made more money than most governments in this decade alone. All in the name of saving the environment. I just want to know his carbon footprint.

I must confess, I have a little problem with career politicians who finally lose an election, and then get filthy rich soon after. The old fashioned way of politicians bilking the public was to simply invest where the development was going to be. In Chicago we have the “friends and family plan”. This is where politicians award government contracts to friends and family.

It’s always struck me that in a country so incredibly wealthy as ours, everybody could and should be covered by decent health care. I believe it is our right, not a privilege. Why not just expand Medicare to cover us all? It will never happen, but something has to change. Medicare is the gigantic white elephant in the room because if things progress the way they are, every dollar of government money will eventually go toward caring for us, the aging Baby Boomers. The rate of Alzheimer’s Disease alone is skyrocketing and doubling every 15 years or so.

Health care for one and all would surely save a fantastic sum of money in the long run. The scores of millions without insurance often wait until they are in dire straits, then go to the only health care provider left to them: the emergency departments of hospitals all around our once great land. That is, by far, the very most expensive health care known to mankind. If these folks were covered, they would tend to get care earlier on in their disease cycle and have a much better chance of recovery at far greater savings than is now possible for them. Also, they might be more inclined to seek preventative care, again at much greater savings.

I fear, heck I’m conceding, that whatever may pass as health care reform will continue to fatten the already plump insurance industry and Big Pharma (remember Bush’s great trillion-dollar boondoggle giveaway with his maniacal Medicare prescription drug plans and all the subsequent confusion that followed?). There are just too many competing parties for this to ever give the American people what they so rightly deserve: decent health care and medicines at affordable prices.

I often remind people that Al Gore is not a scientist. He has made it clear he will not debate any of the global warming issues. Gore’s latest book is “Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis”. Even the title shows his arrogance. I don’t know if man is the biggest cause of climate change, but to think that man has the power to reverse global climate activity is a stretch.

I wonder what it’s going to take to really make a difference in health care reform? Just stay healthy?! Maybe we could get vouchers for fruits and vegetables and a tax break if we quit smoking and drinking.

With the economy in shambles and many losing their jobs, their retirement savings (what numbskulls thought 401k’s were a good idea so they could go belly up thanks to unregulated derivatives trading based on fraudulent and toxic subprime mortgages?), their homes, and their overall sense of pride and security, it’s no wonder that there’s a prevailing mood of despair and hopelessness. The American people deserve a break, but it doesn’t appear they’ll be getting one in the foreseeable future. There ain’t no “public” in this health care option

Why Big Business Hurts The Economy – Lower Prices? Not Really

September 5th, 2010
Comments Off

It’s a common misconception that Big Business, such as are fueling our global economy right now, are great for business. Now, that isn’t to say that there isn’t some good that comes from Big Business, it’s just not good for the global economy. The major positive we get from Big Business is an improved quality of life. However, with that improvement comes some problems. With the economy in a downward spiral, I intend to provide facts to prove why it’s my opinion that Big Business (i.e. large corporations) is a major contributing factor to the economic mess that we’re in today.

First of all, Big Business always means lower prices. Low cost items are not always good. Consider what it takes to get reduce prices. Consumers demand lower prices; to make that happen, outsourcing occurs. Once you outsource, you hurt the local economy, which then cries out for a greater reduction in prices. To accommodate that, salaries are lowered; jobs are cut for some and hours lengthened for others.

I decided to investigate, and this article is the first installment in my investigative report. I believe I have cracked the ‘Magibon Code’ as you will see. I believe there are many facets to it, and the quest to find the answer will take us into many areas of human nature, and also the nature of the internet.

You only have to look at the many comments of baffled viewers to realize that the phenomenon is an extremely complex one. Does magi herself know all the answers? That’s an interesting question, that I intend to ask (and answer) in a later article. But for now I want to look at the reason why her videos are so compelling. First it’s necessary to deal with the question of sex. And for reasons that I’ll look at in more detail later, I believe that her popularity has very little to do with sex per se.

How are costs reduced even further? Quality suffers. Products are made with cheaper components, in cheap labor markets (outsourcing even further) such as China or Mexico. Companies that supply the components are forced to lower their prices, too. Now, we don’t have one company slashing prices, cutting quality and reducing their workforce; we have several.

As I hope to show in a later post, this opinion goes against the true nature of what art is all about, but first… how does she grab the attention of so many?.

This crash isn’t going to be the recession we’re in today. This is bad, but honestly, this is nothing compared to what I imagine. In the Pixar movie Wall-E, they depict a single massive company, “Buy-N-Large,” owning pretty much everything. Believe it or not, that’s much closer to what I imagine, but with politics involved. Imagine this company not only controlling the market and our Economy, but it also would have governing power over countries. Don’t do what this massive conglomerate wants, and boom, they raise prices in your area, crushing your citizens, and forcing you to bow to their wishes. That’s what’s coming, in my opinion, and while it seems like it might be good for business, I believe that, overall, it’s bad for the economy at a global level.

Fool Me Once, Shameful Indeed – Libyan Tricks And Nuclear Weapon Manufacturing Flicks

September 4th, 2010
Comments Off

When Presient George Bush senior was in office, Libya claimed to have a giant chemical plant explosion, which injured 500 people, killing an unknown number, at a so-called chemical weapons plant. Turns out the chemical explosion was totally faked, and the Libyans used paint to simulate smokes stains on the buildings.

I live in a relatively rural county in Ohio and my educated estimate is that approximately three out of five households have firearms. The violent crime rate in my county is quite low and gun crime is extremely rare. In addition, criminals who are relatively astute, choose other areas to commit crimes. Criminals do not want to risk confronting an armed victim.

The ABC news program 20/20 did a show that talked about guns and crime. During one part, they interviewed some criminals in prison who talked about how they fear armed victims more than they fear the police. They also talked about if guns were illegal, they’d still get them.

I teach and work in some areas that have extremely high rates of firearm related crime. Some of the areas have the highest rates of robberies and murders in Ohio. Luckily, the people I deal with are great. They are going to college and doing whatever they can do to better themselves.

Why is this important to the present period you ask? It’s simple really, you see now we have Iran which claims it is no longer manufacturing nuclear weapons underground, and it has invited the IAEA to come and inspect. They have even films of the insides of these facilities, showing that nothing is going on. We were fooled once when Libya tried to use deceptive tricks and tactics, and the question is will we be fooled again as Iran tries the same thing.

Gun control is not the action needed. People control is the need. Better put, finding solutions needed for young people who simply have had little or no direction, no hope and who do not care about much other than breathing, eating and surviving. That is the control needed. Real workable initiatives anchored by strong leadership to help people live up to their human potential, and of course to not abuse everyone around them.

In the meantime, people who chose to own or carry a firearm responsibly should have the right to do so
