If Space Is A Problem, Try These Tips
A perennial problem for couples with growing kids is space. As the family grows, we fill up the house until we run out of space. Here are a few things you can do to make space in your home.
Let’s start with the kitchen, because it is truly the heart of the family home. You may not be able to afford to buy a brand new kitchen, but you may not need to, either. There are many things you can do to get extra space in your kitchen.
In a nutshell, what you’re going to have to do is take everything out of your kitchen and then put it back. Take it all out first, because you’ll probably find that you’ll be doing quite a bit of rearranging as you go along. When you start putting things back on the shelves, note how much empty space there is between shelves. Make use of that space by purchasing new adjustable shelves. You can often actually double your shelf space that way.
You’ll get even more space if you get rid of all those kitchen items you never use. Don’t spare anything. Old rice cookers often find their way into a cupboard only to sit there taking up space because they didn’t prove to be very useful as the family grew. If you have one of these, give it to your local charity organization. It will be very useful to somebody.
If you have culled all the things you didn’t need and added shelf space, you will probably find that there is plenty of storage space in your kitchen. Now you can go out and buy a few compact and efficient modern kitchen appliances, like the Sanyo rice cooker. You will be amazed by how much bigger and more efficient your kitchen will be when you’ve finished the job.
A bedroom that was adequate for a small child becomes more and more cramped as the child gets older. Sometimes it’s so frustrating you just tell the child to clean up his room. There’s no other solution you can think of. There is, however. A twin loft bed is an instant way to add a great deal of floor space to a child’s bedroom.
When you’re trying to find space in any room, two principles will apply. First, think about the volume of space in the room, not just the square feet. Secondly, think about the things you never use and get rid of them. Keep these things in mind and you can effectively double the size of your home!
